Kassab Scores Six as #6 Pfeiffer Rolls by Belmont Abbey

MISENHEIMER, N.C. - Powered by 11 first half goals and a scoring stretch of 12 led sixth-ranked Pfeiffer to an 18-4 victory over Belmont Abbey in Conference Carolinas action on Wednesday afternoon. The win keeps the Lady Falcons unbeaten on the year at 12-0 overall, 4-0 in league play while the Crusaders 5-6, 2-1.

Ashleigh Kassab (Walkersville, MD) scored the first of her game-high six just 19 seconds in on Wednesday before Lindsay Connolly (Davidsonville, MD) even things with a Belmont Abbey goal just35 seconds later. Pfeiffer's Shannon Bonnel (Mechanicsville, MD) would start the goal-scoring streak of 12 at the 25:58 mark of the first. Delaney Miller (Elkridge, MD) would get in on the action 42 seconds after Bonnel's strike before Kassab scored back-to-back goals coming up on 20 minutes to play in the first.

Carly Garrison (Orlando, FL) and Kassab would again hit midway through the first until Sarah Daly (New Market, MD) would score two-straight before Kassab and Garrison wrapped up first half scoring giving the Lady Falcons an 11-1 lead at the break.

Miller and Garrison would start second half scoring for the Lady Falcons to complete the 12-straight as Shannin Darley (Oviedo, FL) took a pass from Connolly netting the Crusaders second goal of the day. Whitney Jaffe (Cohasset, MA) and Reese Gassie (Leonardtown, MD) would each trade unassisted goals for both teams until Katherine Athens (Huntingtown, MD), Garrison and Kassab finished off scoring for Pfeiffer.

After Kassab's six goals, Garrison would conclude with four while Daly and Miller each scored a pair. Pfeiffer outshot Belmont Abbey 39-19, 26-14 on goal. Lady Falcon goalkeeper Cassidy Wilson (Centreville, MD) would make 10 saves in net for the win.

Pfeiffer will now enjoy a week off for Easter before getting back to Conference Carolinas action next Thursday at Lees-McRae.

Belmont Abbey fell at the sixth-ranked Pfeiffer Falcons by an 18-4 score this afternoon at Lefko Field. Pfeiffer improves to 12-0 overall and 4-0 in league play, while the Abbey drops to 5-6 overall and 2-1 in Conference Carolinas.

Lindsay Connolly led the Abbey with two goals and an assist, while Reese Gassie and Shannin Darley had one each. Rebecca Diggs had an assist.

Pfeiffer outshot the Abbey 39-19 and won 14 of 24 draw controls as the Falcons scored 12-straight goals after Connolly knotted the game at one with just 56 seconds gone by. Darley stopped the run with a goal at the 19:56 mark, which started a chain of the two teams exchanging goals, but Pfeiffer scored the final three goals of the contest to produce the winning margin of 18-4.

The Crusaders finished with four caused turnovers as Diggs, Alyssa Greco, Mackenzie Miller and Katy Connery all had one each.
