Bonnies Fall Hard in A-10 Opener to Duquesne

ALFRED, N.Y. St. Bonaventure (5-4, 0-1) fell hard to Duquesne (6-4, 1-0) in its Atlantic 10 Conference opener on Friday by a score of 18-1. Duquesne jumped ahead early and never allowed the Bonnies back into the game, as they coasted to victory at Alfred University's Merrill Field.

The Dukes started the scoring less than three minutes into the game. They quickly made it a 2-0 lead at the 25:17 mark with a shot by Caitlin Prince. St. Bonaventure held Duquesne in check over the next six minutes but the flood gates opened with 19:14 to go. The Dukes poured in 11 goals over those final 19 minutes to capture a 13-0 halftime advantage.

St. Bonaventure would manage just two shots in the first half. Jenna Schlagenhauf, the team's leading scorer was held without a shot.

In the second half it was much more of the same. Lauren Michaels helped the Bonnies avoid a shut out by tallying the lone Brown and White score. The offense never picked up from there as Duquesne rolled on to victory.

The Bonnies will be back in action on Friday (Apr. 5) when they travel to Temple. Face off is currently scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
