Farmingdale State Pounces on Purchase

Farmingdale, N.Y. - Farmingdale State improved to 7-2 overall, 5-0 in the Skyline with a 16-1 conference victory over Purchase College (0-6, 0-5) today.

The Rams were led by sophomore midfielder Christy Thoden (Bayport, N.Y.) with a career-high eight assists, four ground balls, four caused turnovers and 10 draw controls.

After the first half, Farmingdale State led 12-0, behind one goal and five assists from Thoden. The Rams won 11 of 12 draw controls and led 11-4 on ground balls. The second half saw four more goals with three assists from Thoden, as the Rams went on for the win.

Purchase spoiled the shutout with 3:38 remaining in the game with an unassisted goal by freshman midfielder Samantha Rich (Providence, R.I.).

Farmingdale State will now host Kean University on Tuesday, April 2nd at 4:00 p.m.
