Robert Morris Crushes Wagners for Ninth Straight NEC Win

Moon Township, Pa. March 30, 2013 Robert Morris outscored Wagner 13-2 in the second half in claiming a 22-6 victory over the Seahawks in each team's NEC opener Saturday afternoon at a sunny Joe Walton Stadium. The victory gave RMU its ninth consecutive win in conference games, extending its own NEC record.

The Colonials set season highs in goals, assists (15), ground balls (44) and caused turnovers (18) on the afternoon. RMU's 18 caused turnovers were one off the school record and the most by the Colonials in their past 39 overall games. The 18 CT, which is a program record in a conference game, helped Robert Morris post double digit caused turnovers for the sixth time in nine games this season.

Junior defenseman Sean Meagher (Chesterfield, Mo./St. Louis University) led the charge in forcing opposition turnovers for the Colonials as he tied a single-game school record by notching five caused turnovers on the afternoon. He becomes the fourth Colonial ever to achieve that feat, joining both his teammate Ben Lewis (Cazenovia, N.Y./Cazenovia Central) and his assistant coach Jordon Sealock. Meagher moved into second in single-season caused turnovers at RMU (22) with his performance Saturday.

Redshirt senior attackman Dave Morton (Orangeville, Ontario/Hill School) posted a game-high six points on the strength of four goals and two assists. It marked Morton's 21st multi-point game, his 16th multi-goal effort and his 10th career hat trick. Morton now has posted multiple points in seven of the team's past eight games and reached the six-point mark in a game for the fourth time in his career.

True freshman attackman Luke Laszkiewicz (Oshawa, Ontario/Westminster Prep) had another strong day as he netted a hat trick and added an assist to post his third straight multi-point game. Laszkiewicz had his second hat trick of the season and has now had at least three points in four outings in 2013.

Redshirt senior attackman Mike Keegan (Commack, N.Y./Commack) had the best offensive day of his career as he tallied a career-high four points on the strength of his first-ever hat trick and an assist.

Redshirt junior midfielder Taylor Graves (Carlsbad, Calif./Carlsbad) had a career-best four points as he contributed two goals and two assists against Wagner. Graves notched his fourth multi-goal game of the season, the seventh of his career and his 12th career multi-point effort.

Sophomore Jacob Ruest (Cornwall, Ontario/The Hill Academy) was the fourth and final Colonial to hit the four-point mark on the day as he scored once and added three helpers. Ruest set career highs in both assists and points in tallying his third multi-point game of the season.

Senior Jake Hayes (Calgary, Alberta/Central Memorial) continued his notable offensive streaks by posting a pair of goals and an assist to extend his career long point streak to 24 games. He moved his goal streak and multi-point streak to 16 games each. In doing so, Hayes becomes just the second Colonial ever to score in 16 straight games. With Saturday's effort, he claimed his 29th multi-point game and his 24th multi-goal outing.

After more than seven minutes of scoreless lacrosse to open the game, RMU scored three times in under three minutes to claim an early edge. Wagner would score three of the game's next five goals to cut its deficit to two scores, but that's as close as the Seahawks would get the rest of the way.

Holding a 7-4 lead in the final 90 seconds of the first half, Robert Morris scored twice before the break to take a five-goal cushion into intermission.
