Vikings Rally to Beat Hendrix

ROME, Ga. Blake Gwizdalski scored two goals and had two assists as Berry College defeated Hendrix, 12-5, in a Southern Athletic Association game on Sunday.

Berry improved to 8-4, 3-1. HC dropped to 5-6, 3-1.

The Vikings were outscored 4-0 in the first quarter and responded with the game's next 10 goals. Berry's defense held the Warriors scoreless for 35:23 until Cameron Millstone tallied in the fourth quarter.

Max Smerka, Nat Morey and Bryan Byers all scored twice for the Vikings. Berry held a 47-31 edge in shots, led in ground balls (36-29) and face-offs (12-20).

Millstone led Hendrix with three goals and had 10 ground balls. Joe Takacs had 16 saves for the visitors.

BC goalie Jordan Boreman had five saves and improved to 8-4 on the season.

"We were very sloppy in the first quarter," said Berry Head Coach Chris Delfausse. "Once we got into a rhythm a little bit, we got the ground balls, played better fundamental defense and had more possessions. With more possessions come more shooting opportunities and more goals."

Berry hosts Sewanee on Saturday, April 6 at 1:00 p.m.
