No. 11 Cabrini Takes Down Previously Unbeaten Centenary

HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. (April 3, 2013) Centenary College fell from the ranks of the unbeaten this afternoon, as they were defeated by #11 Cabrini College by the final score of 25-5 at Legion Field.

The visiting Cavaliers took a firm 4-0 lead in the first quarter, with four different players scoring goals including a Damian Sobieski man-up goal at 5:10. Trailing 4-0 the Cyclones would not be shut out in the opening quarter, as Joey DeBiasse (Long Valley, West Morris High School) scored his first of the game to make the score 4-1 at the 4:10 mark. The score would remain that way until Cabrini tacked on an additional tally with 15 seconds remaining to make it 5-1 after the first quarter.

Come the second quarter the Cavaliers took complete control of the game with seven goals to take a dominant 12-1. Of the seven goals scored in the second quarter, Corey Elmer assisted on four of them en route to a total of six for the game.

The second half saw the same explosive offensive output from the Cavaliers, as they tacked on 13 more goals to defeat the Cyclones 25-5. Offensively for the Cyclones DeBiasse registered three goals, while Joshua Caven (Yardley, PA, Pennsbury) and Cameron Gunn (Johnson City, NY, Johnson City) added one each in the losing effort.

With the loss, Centenary falls to 7-1 overall and 1-1 in CSAC on the season. The Cyclones will have an opportunity to bounce back from the loss this Saturday, when they travel to take on Rosemont at 1:00 PM in a CSAC match-up.
