Roanoke Dominates Shenandoah in ODAC Action

SALEM, Va. - Host Roanoke maintained its perfect ODAC record with a 22-5 victory over Shenandoah Wednesday evening.

Shenandoah (5-5, 0-4 ODAC) actually led the contest 2-0 after Colin Fowler scored a pair of goals nine seconds apart in the opening minute of the contest.

Unfortunately for the Hornets, the Maroons (7-3, 4-0) buried SU in a barrage of shots following the opening minute.

RC took 70 shots on the day, including 23 in the third quarter alone.

Roanoke also dominated possession, scooping up 67 of 104 groundballs and winning 18 of 29 draws at the faceoff 'x'.

Shenandoah was held to 17 shots on the day and took just a combined two shots in the middle two stanzas.

The hosts tied the game on a Joey Dishaw goal at 12:38 and went on to score another seven goals before Nick Rondeau fed Matt Justice at the 8:32 mark.

Roanoke then scored twice in the final two minutes of the second to take an 11-3 lead into the halftime lockerroom.

This two-goal spurt grew to seven straight before Sean Ohlhaver scored unassisted to make it 18-4 with 2:20 remaining in the third.

The Maroons finished the game on a 4-1 run.

Tyler Quinn had 14 saves and Brett Holmes four in the losing effort.

SU hosts Randolph-Macon on Saturday at 1:00 in another ODAC contest.
