IWLCA Poll for Women's Division I - April 8th

The Maryland Terrapins continued their stranglehold on the top spot, taking all 20 first place votes for a second consecutive week as the ACC maintained their lead with five ranked schools as Boston College re-entered the poll.

The American Lacrosse Conference and the Big East both claimed four teams in the poll while the MPSF and the Ivy League, with two teams each, are the only other conferences with multiple ranked teams.

The ACC kept the top two spots, as North Carolina held steady at No. 2. Duke remained in the top-10 at No. 9, while Virginia dropped to No. 11 to lead off the second half of the poll. Boston College re-entered the rankings, coming in at No. 19.

Both the ALC and the Big East have four ranked schools with three each in the top-10. The ALC's Florida stayed at No. 3 and Northwestern remained at No. 4. Penn State moved up one spot to No. 7 while Johns Hopkins rounds out the poll at No. 20. Syracuse in the Big East remained at No. 5; Notre Dame improved to No. 6 and Georgetown also moved up one spot and now sits at No. 8. Loyola shifted to No. 17.

Denver from the MPSF shot up eight spots and now sits at No. 12 while Stanford moved to No. 15. Princeton from the Ivy League moved up two spots to No. 16 while Cornell moved to No. 18.

Stony Brook from the America East broke into the top-10, landing at No. 10 this week. Massachusetts from the Atlantic 10 remained at No. 13 while Navy from the Patriot League rose up to sit at No. 13 as UMass and Navy tied for that spot.

On Wednesday the top-ranked Terrapins host No. 16 Princeton. Thursday brings a game between No. 11 Virginia and No. 20 Johns Hopkins in Virginia. On Friday, a top-10 match-up is scheduled in Evanston as No. 4 Northwestern welcomes No. 9 Duke; less than 100 miles away, No. 6 Notre Dame hosts No. 17 Loyola. On Sunday, the top-10 contest shifts to South Bend as the sixth-ranked Fighting Irish host the No. 8 Georgetown Hoyas; also on Sunday the No. 4 Wildcats host No. 15 Stanford.

This is the seventh weekly poll of the 2013 season; the next poll will be released on April 16.
