Balanced Scoring Carries #7 Le Moyne to Win at Assumption

Worcester, Mass. Seventh-ranked Le Moyne got goals from seven players en route to a 13-7 win at Assumption on Tuesday afternoon in Northeast-10 Conference action at the Multi-Sport Stadium.

Freshman midfielder Kaitlyn Armstrong (Oswego, N.Y./Oswego) started the game's scoring with an unassisted goal at the 27:08 mark.

The Greyhounds countered with two goals in a span of 11 seconds to take the lead. Lindsay Hagerman netted her first goal of the day with 22:21 remaining in the first half and then Kathryn Beall scored after winning the ensuing draw control.

Le Moyne responded with seven straight goals to take an 8-2 lead at halftime. Senior attacker Kelly Condon (Canandaigua, N.Y./Canandaigua) ignited the run with an unassisted goal with 20:23 left. Just over four minutes later, junior attacker Kathleen Conese (Liverpool, N.Y./Liverpool) gave the Dolphins the lead with her 19th goal of the season.

Senior midfielder Jennifer Fabian (Clay, N.Y./C.W. Baker) followed with her ninth goal of the campaign 30 seconds later to force an Assumption timeout. Junior midfielder Victoria Nies (Syracuse, N.Y./Jamesville-DeWitt), the reigning Northeast-10 Conference Player of the Week, gave the Dolphins a 5-2 advantage by converting a free-position shot with 14:03 to play in the half.

Armstrong pushed the lead to four with a free-position goal of her own with 10:21 remaining. After freshman defender Dana Anderson (Camillus, N.Y./West Genesee) caused an Assumption turnover, freshman attacker Claire Monnat (Baldwinsville, N.Y./C.W. Baker) tallied her eight goal of the season with 7:16 left in the stanza. Condon completed the half's scoring at the 2:49 mark after taking a pass from Monnat.

Hagerman started the scoring in the second half by snapping her team's scoring drought of almost 24 minutes with her 22nd goal of the year 1:38 into the half.

Nies answered back just 15 seconds later to extend Le Moyne's lead back to six. Senior midfielder Gabrielle Kamide (Deferiet, N.Y./Carthage) gave the Dolphins their largest lead of the game with 25:54 remaining by converting a free-position shot.

The back-and-forth scoring continued as Camille Auger found the back of the net with 23:59 remaining off a feed from Steph O'Rourke. Fabian countered just under two and one-minutes later with her second goal of the day off a free-position attempt by senior attacker Brenna Bauer (Rochester, N.Y./Brighton).

The Greyhounds narrowed their deficit to 11-6 with two goals in a span of 1:27. Hagerman tallied an unassisted goal at the 18:49 mark, while Michelle Santos netted her 26th goal of the season with 17:22 remaining.

After six and one-half minutes of scoreless action, Conese tallied a transition goal to give the Dolphins a 12-6 lead. Auger countered 25 seconds later to pull the Greyhounds within five, but Assumption would not score again over the final 10:20.

Conese registered her team-best 21st goal of the year in an extra-man situation with 6:13 left to end the game's scoring.

Sophomore goalkeeper Molly Marbut (Edgewater, Md./South River) made six saves, including four in the second half, to record her fifth straight win. Michelle Monahan turned away 12 shots in the setback for the Greyhounds.

Le Moyne (7-2, 5-1 NE-10), which has outscored its opposition 83-31 during its five-game win streak, returns to action on Wednesday at Merrimack College at 1:00 p.m.
