#7 Le Moyne Tops Merrimack for Sixth Straight Win

North Andover, Mass. Senior attacker Brenna Bauer (Rochester, N.Y./Brighton) and freshman attacker Maggie Monnat (Baldwinsville, N.Y./C.W. Baker) each recorded five points to lead seventh-ranked Le Moyne to an 11-7 win at Merrimack on Wednesday afternoon in Northeast-10 action at Martone-Mejail Field.

The Dolphins jumped out to a 3-0 lead after the opening four minutes and 23 seconds. Monnat started the scoring just 25 seconds into the contest with an unassisted goal. Just over two minutes into the game, junior midfielder Victoria Nies (Syracuse, N.Y./Jamesville-DeWitt) finished off a pass from Bauer for the second goal, while senior attacker Kelly Condon (Canandaigua, N.Y./Canandaigua) found the back of the net at the 25:37 mark after taking a feed from Monnat.

After the Dolphins had a shot hit the goalpost, Merrimack got on the scoreboard 37 seconds later as Jenn Pino scored off a pass from Mia Rapolla with 20:59 remaining in the half.

Bauer extended Le Moyne's lead back to three goals with an unassisted goal with 18:51 left. Just 38 seconds later, Condon gave the Dolphins a 5-1 lead with a transition goal off a feed from freshman midfielder Kaitlyn Armstrong (Oswego, N.Y./Oswego).

Merrimack pulled within 5-2 with 9:30 remaining in the half as Tyler Szymanski scored her 21st goal of the year off a pass from Katie Trahanas.

Each team put two shots on goal over the final eight minutes of the half, but neither team was able to add to their first-half goal totals as the Dolphins took a 5-2 lead into the intermission.

After sophomore defender Nora Stambaugh () caused a Merrimack turnover, Bauer pushed Le Moyne's lead back to four with her 17t goal of the season in transition off a pass from senior midfielder Gabrielle Kamide (Deferiet, N.Y./Carthage) with 27:49 remaining.

Merrimack scored the game's next three goals over a span of 12 and one-half minutes to pull within 6-5 with 13:51 remaining. Olivia Huie started the run with an unassisted goal at the 26:26 mark and then recorded another unassisted goal with 20:30 left. Pino made the contest a one-goal game by converting a free-position shot with 13:51 to play.

The Dolphins responded with two goals in a stretch of 2:44 to extend their lead back to three. Bauer sent a shot into the back of the net with 11:32 left off a pass from Monnat and then fed Kamide for her 11th goal of the year with 8:48 remaining.

Huie countered 58 seconds later to pull Merrimack within two, but that's as close as the Warriors would get.

Le Moyne scored three times in a span of three and one-half minutes to put the game away. Condon tallied her 18th goal of the season off a pass from Monnat with 5:15 to go. Armstrong then tallied her ninth goal with 4:03 remaining. Nies, the reigning Northeast-10 Conference Player of the Week, closed out Le Moyne's scoring with her 18th goal with 1:48 left as Monnat earned her team-best 14th assist of the year.

Rapolla set the final score with an unassisted goal with 35 seconds remaining.

Sophomore goalkeeper Molly Marbut (Edgewater, Md./South River), the only goalkeeper in the Northeast-10 with more saves than goals allowed, won her sixth straight decision by making a career-high 14 saves. Inna Hedden took the loss for the Warriors after stopping 11 shots.

Le Moyne (8-2, 6-1 NE-10), which defeated the Warriors, 8-7, in Syracuse last year, returns home to face Saint Michael's on Saturday at 11:00 a.m.
