Seventh-Ranked Le Moyne Sails Past Saint Michael's

Syracuse, N.Y. Senior attacker Kelly Condon (Canandaigua, N.Y./Canandaigua) scored a career-high five goals to lead seventh-ranked Le Moyne to a 16-2 win over Saint Michael's in Northeast-10 action on Saturday afternoon at Ted Grant Field.

Following almost five minutes of scoreless action to start the game, junior attacker Kathleen Conese (Liverpool, N.Y./Liverpool) got the Dolphins on the scoreboard by converting a free-position shot. Condon tallied her first goal of the day in transition at the 23:31 mark off a pass from senior midfielder Gabrielle Kamide (Deferiet, N.Y./Carthage).

After Conese caused a turnover on a Saint Michael's clear attempt, junior midfielder Victoria Nies (Syracuse, N.Y./Jamesville-DeWitt) scored her 19th goal of the year with 19:24 left in the first half. Off the ensuing draw, senior midfielder Jennifer Fabian (Clay, N.Y./C.W. Baker) collected the ball and then fed Condon on the crease for her 20th goal of the season just eight second after Nies scored. Just over one minute later, Condon scored again off a pass in transition from freshman attacker Maggie Monnat (Baldwinsville, N.Y./C.W. Baker).

Following 11 and one-half minutes of scoreless play, senior attacker Brenna Bauer (Rochester, N.Y./Brighton) scored off a free-position shot for her 19th goal of the season.

Kate Boyer got Saint Michael's on the scoreboard at the 5:49 mark with an unassisted tally.

The Dolphins extended their lead to 9-1 at halftime with three goals over the final 3:09 of the first half. Sophomore midfielder Anna Daucher (Liverpool, N.Y./Liverpool) recorded the first of the three after weaving her way through the Saint Michael's defense. Just 67 seconds later, Conese netted her second goal of the game, while sophomore midfielder Laura Hoffman (Canandaigua, N.Y./Canandaigua) ended the half's scoring with 1:15 left after cutting down the middle of the field and taking a pass from Condon.

Bauer got the Dolphins into double figures just 21 seconds into the second half with an unassisted tally. Monnat increased Le Moyne's lead to double digits at the 25:33 mark with her eighth goal of the campaign, while Conese followed three minutes later with her team-best 24th goal of the year off a free-position shot.

Condon then scored two of Le Moyne's next three goals as the Dolphins pushed their lead to 15-1. She found the back of the net with 17:54 left after taking a pass from Bauer and then registered her final goal of the afternoon with 10:53 remaining off a feed from sophomore attacker Catie McKay (Penfield, N.Y./Our Lady of Mercy). In between Condon's two goals, McKay netted her second goal of the year.

The Purple Knights ended Le Moyne's 9-0 run with 4:44 left as Shannon Murphy tallied an unassisted goal.

Sophomore Julia Suriani (Buffalo, N.Y./West Seneca East) finished off the game's scoring with 2:44 remaining with her first goal of the year after taking a pass from freshman Nicole Gibaldi (Westbury, N.Y./Clarke).

Sophomore goalkeeper Molly Marbut (Edgewater, Md./South River) made five saves (against one goal) over the first 49:27 to earn her ninth win of the season. Casey Curtin made 12 saves in the loss for the Purple Knights.

Le Moyne (9-2, 7-1 NE-10), which has won seven straight games, returns to action on Wednesday with first place in the Northeast-10 Conference on the line against #4 nationally-ranked Adelphi University at 4:00 p.m.
