Marist Defeats Jacksonville to Remain Perfect in the MAAC

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Jacksonville came up short in a battle of undefeated MAAC teams Saturday afternoon on Milne Field. The Dolphins were dealt their first conference loss of the season, with Marist claiming a 14-11 victory.

JU (6-4; 4-1) was led by senior TJ Kenary (Alpharetta, Ga.) and sophomore Ari Waffle (Manlius, N.Y.) who each had two goals and two assists.

The Dolphins jumped on the board first with two goals in the first five minutes, but the Red Foxes would answer right back to even the score at 2-2 after the first quarter. The teams would continue to trade goals before Waffle's score with just under three minute left in the first half gave JU a 5-4 lead at halftime.

Marist (8-2; 4-0) scored three goals in the opening three minutes of the second half to build a 7-5 lead, but JU did not go away easily. After Kenary scored just one minute later, senior Dan McNulty (Fairfax, Va.) won the faceoff and took it all the way to the cage for his first goal of the season.

The back and forth game continued before three straight goals by the Red Foxes to close out the quarter gave them an 1--8 advantage heading into the final 15 minutes of play. Conor Igoe (Columbus, Ohio) and James Trentini (Fort Washington, Pa.) scored in the fourth quarter for JU, but each time Marist answered back as the Dolphins were unable to cut into the lead.

Jacksonville closes out the regular season at Canisius next Saturday and at Mercer on April 27. The MAAC Tournament will be held May 3-5 in Buffalo, N.Y.
