Warriors Fall to No. 18 Pride

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. Lycoming College fell, 15-1, to 18th-ranked Widener University in Commonwealth Conference action on Saturday, April 13, at the Shangraw Athletic Complex.

The Pride (9-3 overall, 5-0 Commonwealth) scored the first five goals of the game before senior Tom Lurie (Bel Air, Md./Bel Air) dented the twine with a pretty shot to the right corner from 25 feet out to get the Warriors (3-9 overall, 2-3 Commonwealth) on the board. However, the Pride added five more goals before halftime to take a 10-1 lead into the break.

In the second half, the Pride were outshot, 10-8, but they were able to add five more goals.

Kyle Gratz led the Pride with five goals and an assist and Tim Taylor posted four goals and an assist. Timothy Winslow led the team defensively with seven ground balls and four caused turnovers and Charlie Bytheway added four ground balls.

Senior Matt Doherty (Berlin, Md./Stephen Decatur) led the Warriors with six ground balls and sophomore goalkeeper Alex Wylly (Columbus, Ohio/Worthington Kilbourne) added five ground balls. Wylly also made nine saves in net. Junior Sean Brown (Baltimore, Md./Lansdowne) added one stop in the final five minutes.

Mac Nestler stopped five shots in 39 minutes to earn the win for the Pride. Bobby Schluter made nine saves in 17 minutes and Tyler McClary also saw action in the game.

The Warriors get back in action with a critical Commonwealth Conference game against Hood on Saturday, April 20 at 1:00 p.m. at the Shangraw Athletic Complex.
