Delaware dominated the statistical categories, outshooting the Hawks 40-27, holding a 32-16 advantage on groundballs, and winning 16 of the 21 faceoffs.

Saint Joseph's jumped out to 2-1 lead after Hall scored with 4:24 left in the opening stanza, but the Blue Hens took over from there as Kormondy started a 5-0 run that led to Delaware taking the lead for good at 6-2.

Diachenko, Delaware's leading goal-scorer this year with 29, scored twice during the pivotal run. A man-up goal by Connor McRoy capped the run and a tally by Smith gave Delaware a 7-3 lead at the break.

After a goal by Sarcona four minutes into the second half pulled SJU to within 7-4, the Hens used another run to put the game away as Kormondy, Holland, and Keane scored consecutive goals to push the lead back to 10-4 early in the final stanza. Keane added his second goal with 5:07 left to push the advantage to 11-5.
