No. 13 Mercyhurst Upended by No. 14 Indiana (Pa.)

ERIE, Pa.- #13 Mercyhurst lost, 13-6, to #14 Indiana (Pa.) Saturday afternoon. Kayla Minner and Anna LeGrett each had two goals and an assist in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) match at Tullio Field.

On a cold, wet day, IUP got on the board first. Alexa Lodovici scored 44 seconds in. Alisha Catalino found Rebecca Himes for a goal at the 27:41 mark to even the score. Lodovici assisted on two straight Crimson Hawk goals. She then scored to make it 4-1 with 23:33 left.

Less than a minute later, Minner found the back of the net to cut the deficit to two. Indiana responded with a goal, but LeGrett scored with 18:26 showing on the clock. IUP scored the final two goals of the first period, taking a 7-3 advantage into halftime.

LeGrett hit Minner for a goal 1:16 into the second frame, giving Mercyhurst some hope. Lodovici, however, had other plans. She scored and then assisted on a goal as the visitors took a 9-4 lead. The Hawks stretched the lead to 13-4 with 6:55 remaining. LeGrett scored and then Minner assisted on a goal by Olivia Keirn in the final two minutes.

LeGrett and Minner each totaled three points. Himes and Keirn both scored, while Catalino had an assist. Rebecca Muscella recorded six saves in net. Lodovici, the PSAC's leading scorer, had five goals and three assists for Indiana.

Mercyhurst fell to 10-3 overall and 5-2 in the conference. IUP moved to 10-0 overall and 7-0 in the league. The Lakers host Shippensburg and Millersville at Tullio Field next weekend.
