High Point Outraces Camels in Big South Play

BUIES CREEK, N.C. Freshmen Loren Day and Erica Hitch netted goals Monday as the Camels fell to High Point 20-2 at Barker-Lane Stadium. Campbell moves to 6-6 overall and 1-5 in the Big South conference in the final week of regular season play.

Hitch's goal in the third minute of play tied the game at one, the closest the Camels would bring the score. The half ended 10-1 in favor of the Panthers, as junior goalkeeper Brittany Kincer stopped nine of 21 High Point attempts.

After the halftime break, the Panthers netted four more goals, making the score 14-1. Day's 31st goal of the season came nine minutes into the half, and brought the score to 14-2.

The Panthers scored six unanswered goals to finish the match and earn the 20-2 win.

Kincer finished the game with 11 saves, her third consecutive outing with a double-digit save total. She has stopped 117 shots faced on the season.

As a team, Campbell totaled 10 ground balls, 11 draw controls, and nine shots.

The Camels round out their inaugural regular season Saturday at Barker-Lane Stadium in a 1:00 p.m. match with fellow first-year program Coastal Carolina.
