IWLCA Poll for Women's Division I - April 15th

The Maryland Terrapins maintained their grip on the No. 1 ranking, taking all 20 first-place votes for a third consecutive week and the ACC continues to lead all conferences with five teams in the top-20 in the national poll.

Three conferences, including the ACC, ALC and the Big East, each have three schools in the top-10 with the America East having its lone representative, Stony Brook, also inside the top half of the poll. The ALC and the Big East both claim four schools in the top-20, with the MPSF and the Ivy League both boasting two ranked institutions.

The ACC not only has the most schools but also claims the top two spots in the poll as Maryland and North Carolina still sit 1-2. Duke remains in the top-10 at No. 9, while Virginia falls to No. 16 and Boston College improves to No. 18.

The ALC claims half of the top-six spots as Florida (No. 3) and Northwestern (No. 4), who meet on Saturday in Gainesville, hold steady from last week and Penn State rises to No. 6. Johns Hopkins also moves up to land at No. 19 this week.

The Big East is led by Syracuse at No. 5 while Notre Dame moves to No. 7 and Georgetown holds at No. 8. Loyola moves up four spots to come in this week at No. 13.

Denver from the MPSF inches closer to the top-10, moving up to No. 11 while Stanford remains at No. 15.

The Ivy League's Princeton slides to No. 17 while Cornell rounds out the poll as the Big Red moves to No. 20.

Three other conferences each claim one school, starting with the America East and Stony Brook, who remains at No. 10. Massachusetts from the Atlantic 10 rises to No. 12, while Navy from the Patriot League lands at No. 14.

On Tuesday, a battle in New York state takes place as No. 5 Syracuse hosts No. 20 Cornell. On Friday the No. 5 Orange are back in action against a second consecutive top-20 opponent as they welcome No. 7 Notre Dame. Saturday features a top-4 clash as No. 3 Florida hosts No. 4 Northwestern. On Sunday the No. 6 Nittany Lions travel to face No. 19 Johns Hopkins in a key ALC game.

This is the eighth weekly poll of the 2013 season; the next poll will be released on April 23.
