Geneseo Beats Brockport to Win Third Straight

GENESEO, N.Y. Geneseo (8-4, 2-3 SUNYAC) won its third straight game, topping visiting Brockport (10-4, 4-2 SUNYAC) 17-8 in a State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) game Tuesday.

The Knights scored the last seven goals of the first half and the first two of the second period to take control of the game.

Sophomore attack Katey Hart (Syracuse/West Genesee) led all scorers with four goals and two assists. She raised her season total to 34 points (26 goals, eight assists) and has now scored 78 points in her career.

Junior midfielder Emily Haggerty (Syracuse/Westhill) notched four goals, giving her a team-best 50 points on the season. Her 105 career goals rank eighth all-time at Geneseo.

Junior attacks Caroline Buonocore (Syracuse/Westhill) and Meredith Weber (Bellport/Bellport) both collected three goals and an assist. Buonocore (43 points this season) raised her career totals to 154 goals and 187 points; she's three goals away from becoming the program's career record-holder.

Senior defender Jenna Theofield (East Northport/Northport) picked up a team-leading four ground balls and Buonocore added three. Buonocore, who collected three draw controls, led the Knights with three caused turnovers.

Junior defender Kylie Caesar (Delmar/Bethlehem) led Geneseo with four draw controls.

Senior Julie Bernatzky (Mount Sinai/Mount Sinai) stopped 11 shots including eight in the second half. She helped hold the Golden Eagles to one goal in eight free-position attempts.

Senior midfielder Rachel Petrone (Rochester/Penfield) finished with four points on a goal and three assists. She raised her career total to 133 points, joining Buonocore and Haggerty in the program's all-time top 10.

Senior attack Lea Paris (Henrietta/Rush-Henrietta) contributed a goal and an assist and Caesar added a goal. The Knights play a noon game at Oneonta.
