No. 7 Le Moyne Knocks off No. 3 Adelphi in First-Place Battle

Nies won the draw out of the timeout and 45 seconds later Conese drew a foul. Conese proceeded to net her third free-position goal of the game to push Le Moyne's lead to 10-8 with 13:11 left. Just over two minutes later, Conese sent a pass from behind the cage to freshman attacker Claire Monnat (Baldwinsville, N.Y./C.W. Baker), who sent a shot into the goal while being pushed to the ground.

Monnat extended Le Moyne's lead to 12-8 with 8:47 remaining by netting a free-position goal. Fabian completed Le Moyne's scoring two and one-half minutes later with a free-position goal in an extra-man situation, Le Moyne's eighth of the contest.

Adelphi scored three times in the final 5:18 to deliver the final score. Crimi scored off a free-position shot at the 5:18 mark, while Froccaro converted a free-position shot 52 seconds later. Mathewson ended the game's scoring with a man-down goal with 1:22 remaining after curling around the left edge of the goal from behind. The Dolphins won the ensuing draw and ran out the clock, the last 36 seconds of which was played with a two-man advantage.

Marbut, the reigning Northeast-10 Conference Goalkeeper of the Week, registered 10 saves, including six in the second half, to earn her 10th win of the season. Dempsey took the loss for the Panthers after giving up five goals (against two saves) in just over 21 minutes of action. Hayes made eight saves (against eight goals) over the final 38:51.

Le Moyne (10-2, 8-1 NE-10), which clinched a berth in the Northeast-10 Conference Championships and now controls its fate in regards to hosting the Championships for the second straight year, returns to action on Saturday at Saint Anselm at 11:00 a.m.
