3d Rising - Player Evaluations from 3d Lacrosse, 4/18

Decatur High School, Decatur, GA
Don Rigger literally started lacrosse in the Decatur area and leads the Bulldogs as a CC. Rigger grew up in playing lacrosse in Baltimore and continued on to play at Washington and Lee. The Decatur rec program was seeded with grants from US Lacrosse. Rigger was named Man of the Year in 2011 by the Georgia Lacrosse Foundation and was inducted into the Lacrosse Hall of Fame in January. Decatur is senior heavy and Rigger has coached most players from the day they first picked up a stick. This is a very athletic team, anchored by a strong senior goalie, Ben Rigger. If it is going to happen for Decatur, this is the year.

#10 Alex Lipsky 2014
Lassiter High School, Marietta, GA
Position: Midfield
Sub-Position: Feeder, outside shooter
Rating: Watch List

Alex Lipsky had 5 assists in Lassiter's convincing win over Decatur. I watched Lipsky play attack in fall ball and while I admired his powerful high to high shot from top right, I thought he was a one dimensional attack man. Now running in the midfield, Lipsky has developed into a more complete offensive threat with great field vision and the ability to pass the ball on a rope.

#20 Cory John 2014
Lassiter High School, Marietta, GA
Position: Attack
Sub-Position: Finisher
Rating: Player

Cory John went off in this game. He had 5 goals and earned MVP honors for his performance. John is the quintessential multi-sport athlete. He is also a defensive lineman on the football team with hockey in his background. He is physically big, very strong, and able to take a beating while still sticking the ball in the back of the net. John moves well to space and can handle any hot pass his teammates throw at him.

#32 Ryan Smith 2013
Lassiter High School, Marietta, GA
Position: Goalie
College Commitment: Mercer
Rating: Player

Ryan Smith is the best goalie in Georgia in my opinion. While I didn't get his save percentage in this game he was stellar. He made saves up high and down low. He handled Decatur's heat from the outside and stuffed their attack men on the crease. Ryan is an athlete who moves well outside of the crease and can clear the ball with confidence to any target on the field.

#2 Deangelo Watkins 2013
Decatur High School, Decatur, GA
Position: Attack
Sub-Position: Shooter, feeder, EMO go to
Rating: Watch List

Deangelo Watkins accounted for 4 goals and 1 assist for Decatur. This all lefty attack man has a powerful shot. I never saw him beat his man with a dodge. Just catch the ball and quick release. If they get him the ball in an EMO situation, Decatur is more than likely going to score. He is definitely their go to shooter on attack and plays well in tandem with #9 Nathan Wilinski at X.
