No. 12 UMass Scores First 11, Cruises Past St. Bonaventure

ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. St. Bonaventure (6-10, 0-6) fell, 19-2, at the hands of nationally ranked UMass (14-2, 6-0) on Friday morning (Apr. 19). The Bonnies fell behind 11-0 before finding the back of the net.

UMass scored just 2:24 into the contest on Courtney McGrath's eighth score of the season. Sam Rush added a pair of goals to go along with Cori Murray's two to help build the 11-0 lead for the Minutewomen.

St. Bonaventure did not find the back of the net until the 2:51 mark of the first half when Lauren Michaels took a Jenna Schlagenhauf pass and powered home her sixth tally of the season. UMass would add one more score before the half to take a 12-1 advantage into the break.

The Bonnies struck first in the second half. Once again it was Schlagenhauf who put home her 37th score of the season. Erin Thomas would pick up her eighth assist on the play. That would be all the damage the Brown and White would do in this one however as UMass coasted to the 19-2 victory.

Lauren Terracciano handed out four assists for UMass while Cori Murray, Sam Rush, Ellie Bullitt, Katie Boden and Eileen McDonald all added a pair of goals. Nicole Troost scored a trio of goals on just four shots.

The Bonnies will be back in action on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. when they welcome La Salle for senior day. Having already been eliminated from contention for the Atlantic 10 Championship, the tilt with the Explorers will also serve as the 2013 season finale.
