Pedroso Nets 100th Goal as Dutchmen Roll by Messiah

ANNVILLE, Pa. - Malik Pedroso scored his 100th career goal and Mike Moll had a superb 15-save performance to lead Lebanon Valley past Messiah 12-6 at Arnold Field.

The Dutchmen (8-4, 3-2 CC) received hat tricks from Pedroso, Alex Beard, and Jordan Mayr to spark the offense, while Moll led a defense that allowed only two first-half goals. LVC wore custom purple-and-white jerseys for their first annual Crosse Out Cancer game, auctioned off to support Relay For Life and the American Cancer Society.

Beard led all players with four goals and an assist, including a pair of first-half strikes as LVC went up 6-2 at the break. Pedroso's second goal made him the first Dutchman to reach the century mark, with the junior scoring on a diving swing midway through the second quarter.

Matt Aldridge scored less than 90 seconds into the game before Pedroso and Beard made it 3-0 after the first quarter; Messiah pulled within a goal off Nate Nester and Kyle Sproles tallies, but Pedroso sandwiched goals around Beard's second to finish the half up 6-2.

LVC extended its lead in the third with Beard's opener 87 seconds in, and Mayr scored three in a row for LVC to end the period. Beard and Jacques Mercer added fourth-quarter goals, including Beard cashing in a man-up opportunity.

Moll made eight of his 15 saves in the first half, while counterpart Jon Weimer stopped 13 in the loss. LVC held a 31-32 shots advantage.

The Dutchmen return to Arnold Field Monday to finish their suspended game with Albright at 6:00 p.m.
