#2 Dickinson Celebrates Senior Day with Win vs. Swarthmore

CARLISLE, Pa. - Junior Jonathan Molloy led all scorers with five goals, but it wasn't enough for Swarthmore College on Saturday afternoon, as No. 2 Dickinson defeated the Garnet by a score of 19-9.

The Red Devils proved their ranking early, opening the game on a 9-0 run, including a 7-0 first quarter. Junior goalie Jonathan Cohen made 14 saves in net for the Garnet, which played significantly better in the second half.

Sophomore Ian Lukaszewicz finished with two goals. Down 9-0 in the second period, the Garnet got on the board with 10 minutes left in the half with a goal from Lukaszewicz. Molloy tallied two more later in the quarter, and at half time, Dickinson led 11-3.

Senior Steve Selverian opened his tab for the afternoon after another Lukaszewicz goal just after halftime, making it 11-5. But Dickinson stole the momentum back, scoring two of their own to close out the third quarter. Swarthmore made another run in the fourth quarter with a goal by junior Daniel Kowalyshyn and three more from Molloy, but the Red Devils closed the game out on a 4-0 run, winning 19-9.

Junior Andrew Preiser led the Garnet in assists with three, while junior Brendan Conway and senior Wes Marcik each had one. The Garnet defense was led by juniors Geli Carabases and Zach Schaffer, who combined for seven ground balls and three caused turnovers. Senior Michael Girardi finished with three ground balls and one caused turnover.

Dickinson junior Brian Cannon finished with four goals, second only to Molloy for the game-high. Junior Brian Gleason scored three for the Red Devils and added two assists. Senior goalie Greg Hanley faced 15 shots and made six saves. Junior Draper Donley caused three turnovers and picked up four ground balls.

The Garnet seek to upset #12 ranked Washington College Wednesday in its home finale at 7:00 pm.
