Albion Tops in Hope in MIAA Clash

HOLLAND, Mich. Dan Genord and Jamie Kehoe scored three goals apiece as Albion inched closer to securing its berth in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association tournament with a 14-4 victory over Hope.

Coach Jake DeCola was unhappy with the production of the extra-man unit in the first quarter, but Albion took control in the second quarter as Genord scored twice and Albion built a 4-0 lead 4 ½ minutes into the frame. Tim Urso dished out the assists on both of Genord's goals.

Kehoe's second tally of the quarter extended the Albion lead to 5-0.

"(Goalkeeper) Kyle Formanczyk made some fine stops in early and the offense took off once we settled in," DeCola said. "Jeff Irish had a nice game holding his man to one assist and he caused four turnovers."

Albion led 5-2 at halftime and it dominated the third quarter by scoring five times. Joel Hedemark scored a goal and dished out two assists in the quarter, and Genord and Kehoe each struck again.

The Britons got goals from Daniel Kaminski, Dylan Neal, Brad Bogus, and Mitch Loney in the fourth quarter.

Albion, 9-4 overall and 4-0 against MIAA rivals, visits Alma College Wednesday to begin the final week of the regular season.
