Oberlin Rolls in Home Finale Against Hiram

Oberlin, Ohio Oberlin sent its four senior members off in grand fashion as the Yeowomen downed the Hiram Terriers, 18-0, on Saturday afternoon at Fred Shults Field.

Molly Bloom, a senior from Sharon, Massachusetts, led the Oberlin offensive barrage with five goals to run her career total to 99 with two regular season games remaining on the schedule. Fellow senior Christina Perez-Tineo also netted a career-high three goals, while classmate Ilyssa Meyer added two goals and an assist in the win - marking goals 27 and 28 of the season - and 122 and 123 of her career.

Senior keeper Madeleine O'Meara didn't see much action on this day, but did record her first-career shutout with three saves in the triumph.

Rookie Grace Barlow and junior Sarah Andrews each had a hat trick with three goals apiece, while sophomore Jodi Helsel chipped in with a pair of her own.

Oberlin led 10-0 at the half with the last tally coming on a free-position finish from Andrews with 45 seconds left in the frame. It would be the first of five straight 8-meter goals by the Yeowomen. Andrews, a local Oberlin, native would add another to start the second half, while Bloom - then Meyer - then Bloom again would finish the run of free-position goals.

Oberlin would add four scores over the final nine minutes en route to finishing with its season-high total for goals in a game.

Sophomore Kate Hanick added three assists and a game-high five draw controls for the Yeowomen.

Oberlin out-shot Hiram 31-5 and had a 14-5 edge in draws. The Yeowomen's swarming defense held the Terriers to just seven successful clears on 18 attempts and also created 23 turnovers.

With the win Oberlin improved to 4-9 overall and 3-3 in the NCAC, putting themselves in line for a potential NCAC Tournament berth with matches against Wittenberg and Wooster still remaining on the schedule.

Oberlin will travel to Wittenberg on Wednesday night for a key conference clash at 7:00 p.m. The Tigers lead the conference at 6-0 and are 10-3 overall.
