Grizzlies Fall in WILA Contest at Ft. Lewis

DURANGO, Colo.-Adams State University fell to 3-8 overall after suffering a 19-7 loss to Fort Lewis on the road Saturday afternoon.

The Grizzlies were able to cut a 4-0 deficit to 4-2 on goals from Qiana Barfield (Denver, Colo.) and Grace Komatz (Centennial, Colo.). However, Fort Lewis would respond with a 6-0 run to push the Skyhawk lead to 10-2.

Amanda Hisel (Conifer, Colo.) ended the Fort Lewis run with an unassisted goal and just 38 seconds later, junior Lexy Hamilton (Monte Vista, Colo.) put a shot in the back of the net for her 24th goal of the season. Adams State would get one more goal in the first-half, this time from Heather Jones (), to cut the score to 10-5.

Fort Lewis would outscore the Grizzlies 9-2 in the second-half, beating the Grizzlies in nearly every statistical category. Hamilton would be responsible for both of ASU's second-half goals, netting her a total of 26 goals on the season. Hamilton's 26 goals this season rank her third in the Western Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association.

Adams State will finish out the road season this Wednesday when they travel to Denver to take on the Regis University Rangers, a team they fell to at home earlier this season by a score of 21-5.

First draw for Adams State and Regis is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
