IWLCA Poll for Women's Division I - April 22nd

For a fourth consecutive week, Maryland remained a unanimous No. 1 as the Terrapins took home all 20 first place votes. The ACC boasts five schools in the top-20, and with Connecticut's entry into the poll, the Big East now also claims five schools in the rankings.

The American Lacrosse Conference has three schools-all in the top six-while the MPSF and the Ivy League both have two ranked institutions. The ACC, Big East, and ALC each have three schools in the top nine with Stony Brook from the America East rounding out the top-10 at No. 10.

The ACC, led by No. 1 Maryland, also claims top-10 schools No. 3 North Carolina and No. 7 Duke; Virginia drops to No. 19 and Boston College rounds out the poll at No. 20.

The Big East also has three schools ranked in the top-10, starting with No. 5 Syracuse. No. 8 Georgetown comes in just ahead of No. 9 Notre Dame. Loyola moves up one spot to land at No. 12 and Connecticut enters the poll at No. 17.

The three ALC schools all sit in the top-six, with Florida moving back up to No. 2. Northwestern holds at No. 4 and Penn State remains at No. 6.

Denver from the MPSF starts off the second half of the poll as they hold at No. 11 while Stanford moves up one spot to No. 14.

Penn from the Ivy League moves back into the rankings as the Quakers take the No. 16 slot, just in front of the Princeton Tigers, who move to No. 18.

Three other conferences each claim one school, starting with the America East and Stony Brook, who remains at No. 10. Massachusetts from the Atlantic 10 moves to No. 13, while Navy from the Patriot League lands at No. 15.

On Wednesday, a top-10 tilt takes place in Indiana as No. 9 Notre Dame hosts No. 4 Northwestern. On Thursday, the ACC Tournament opens up and No. 7 Duke takes on No. 19 Virginia. Friday features the continuation of the ACC tournament; top-ranked Maryland takes on the winner of the Duke/Virginia game while No. 3 North Carolina faces the winner of the game between No. 20 Boston College and Virginia Tech.

Also on Friday, two Big East games feature two ranked opponents with No. 8 Georgetown hosting No. 17 Connecticut and No. 12 Loyola welcoming No. 5 Syracuse. Saturday brings No. 4 Northwestern travelling to No. 16 Pennsylvania and No. 18 Princeton at home against No. 6 Penn State. Sunday brings the final of the ACC Tournament along with two Big East match-ups between top-20 schools as the No. 8 Hoyas take on the No. 5 Orange and the No. 12 Greyhounds face the No. 17 Huskies.

This is the ninth weekly poll of the 2013 season; the next poll will be released on April 30.
