Dickinson Falls to No. 6 Franklin & Marshall, 21-12

(Carlisle, Pa.) Dickinson played right with #6-ranked Franklin & Marshall until a second half surge put the Diplomats in control in the second half. The Diplomats improved to 13-2 overall and 8-1 in the Centennial Conference with a 21-12 decision.

F&M struck first, taking a 2-0 lead in the opening five minutes of the game. First-year Jennifer Morrissey (Rockville, Md./Our Lady of Good Counsel) answered off an assist from sophomore Ali Dawson (Carle Place, N.Y./Carle Place).

Sophomore Carly O'Brien (Cranberry, N.J./Princeton Day School) scored three goals and handed out an assist to Caroline Clancy (Monkton, Md./Hereford) as the Devils were within one at halftime, trailing, 8-7.

Clancy found the net twice in the first half and answered a pair of Diplomat goals to open the second half, making the score, 10-8, with 26:19 remaining in the game.

F&M went on an 11-0 run to pull ahead, 21-8, with 8:27 left to play. The Devils continued to battle, netting the final four goals of the game. Kara Glazer (Towson, Md./Towson) scored once and assisted Lauren Jonas (Reisterstown, Md./McDonogh) on another. Dawson and Clancy tacked on scores as well for the final of 21-12.

O'Brien led the way with three goals and two assists while Clancy found the net four times on the day. Colleen Zulty (Jarretsville, Md./The John Carroll School) caused three turnovers while senior Chloe Golod (Huntington, N.Y./Cold Spring Harbor) and first-year Moira Mahoney (Wayne, Pa./Radnor) each caused a pair.

Morrissey controlled five draws to go with her goal. She finishes the season tied for the school record for assists by a first year with 17 this season.

Amanda Morse (Massapequa, N.Y./Massapequa) earned the start in goal, making eight saves on the day. Grace Morelli (Manhasset, N.Y./Manhasset) came on for the final 15 minutes.

The Red Devils close out the season, 7-9 overall and 3-6 in the Centennial Conference.

CARLISLE, Pa. Casey Madden scored four goals and handed out one assist to help lead No. 6 Franklin & Marshall to 21-12 victory over Dickinson in Centennial Conference (CC) women's lacrosse action Saturday afternoon. F&M improved to 13-2, 8-1 CC while the Red Devils fell to 7-9, 3-6.

The CC Playoff field is set with F&M scheduled to play Haverford next Saturday at Gettysburg. Game time will be determined on Monday. The Bullets will take on either McDaniel or Washington with those two teams set to play the first round game on Wednesday.

Five other Diplomats tallied multiple goals as Caroline Krohn, Lauren Selawski and Brittney Jorgenson each picked up a hat trick. Krohn added three helpers and Emily Everdell along with Emily D'Erasmo finished with two goals apiece. Mary Mitchell, Kim Abruzzo, Ali Kelly and Grace Saliba lit the scoreboard once for F&M.

The game was a battle during the first 30 minutes of action. F&M jumped out to early 2-0 lead five minutes in with scores by Jorgenson and Everdell before the Red Devils put one through at 25:09. F&M countered with two more to go up 4-1 at 23:24 and the teams exchanged scores over the next six minutes resulting in a 6-3 F&M lead with 17:57 left to play.

Dickinson tallied two straight to come within a goal, 6-5, and Selawski made it 7-5 at 13:02. The Red Devils would not go away and scored two of the last three goals of the half to come within a point, 8-7, at the break.

It was all F&M in the second as the Diplomats outscored Dickinson 13-1, including 11-straight to take a 21-8 lead at 8:27. The Red Devils kept battling and scored the final four goals of the contest.

Kelsey Hoffman went to 13-3 on the season with 11 saves while Amanda Morse (2-3) took the loss with eight stops.

F&M outshot Dickinson 34-29, went 19 for 33 in draws and end with 18 ground balls.
