No. 4 Stevenson Overpowers LVC in Commonwealth Semifinals

OWINGS MILLS, Md. - #4 Stevenson was too much for Lebanon Valley as the Mustangs ran out to a big early lead to win, 23-7, in the Commonwealth Conference tournament semifinals.

The Dutchmen (11-6) will await the ECAC tournament selection on Monday to find out if their season will continue. The team's 11 wins are the most in program history as they reached the CC semis for the second straight year.

Klayton Garman had a hat trick and Malik Pedroso scored twice with an assist to lead LVC. Ryan Lanigan and Matt Roupe also had goals. Tyler Reid had six goals, all in the first half, while Pat Candon and Peter Green each had three to lead 11 different Mustangs (16-2) with goals.

Stevenson's offense produced 64 shots while limiting LVC to 29; the hosts outshot LVC 21-5 in the first quarter alone as they took an 8-1 lead. LVC put two in a row together to start the second as Pedroso scored man-up and Garman followed, by Stevenson ended the half with seven straight goal to lead 15-3 at the break.

The Dutchmen scored four consolation strikes in the second half, including two straight by Garman to end the third quarter and a final goal by Matt Roupe from Matt Lubawski.

Mike Moll (13 saves) and Kevin Krasley (3 saves) split time in goal. Dimitri Pecunes stopped four in the win for Stevenson, which also played Kevin Cain and Colin Rayburn in relief.
