Computer Predictions for This Week's Tournament Games

Here are the computer's predictions for the NCAA tournament games this week. including a few where the opponent has yet to be determined. For the toss-ups, the difference in teams' ratings (making an allowance for home-field advantage) is small enough that a prediction would amount to something close to a coin flip. Home team is listed first.

For toss-up games, we give the computer credit if the difference in the score is three goals or fewer. If the margin is greater, the computer gets the buzzer and the red X. You can see how the computer fared on Monday or Tuesday.

The computer ratings (and therefore these predictions) don't take many variables into account, including how particular teams tend to fare at home or on the road, injuries teams may have, emotional factors, where teams are ranked in the polls, and so forth. Nevertheless, they can provide an entertaining hint about what might happen when the games are played.
