Millersville Snaps Skid, Downs East Stroudsburg 10-5

EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. – Anna Marmer (Pottstown, PA/Pottsgrove) sparked a four-goal burst, breaking a 1-all deadlock and catapulting Millersville to a 10-5 victory at East Stroudsburg in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) women's lacrosse action on Wednesday.

Marmer and Liz Richmond (Jenkintown, PA/Jenkintown) led the Marauders (5-8, 4-5 PSAC) with two goals and an assist each.

Katie Fretz led the Warriors (2-8, 1-7 PSAC) with two of the team's five goals.

After Richmond and Fretz exchanged tallies in the first 14:36, Marmer finished a Kristen Maze (Media, PA/Penncrest) assist to give Millersville the lead for good at the 16:28 mark.

Kelly Kemper (Bel Air, MD/Bel Air), Lauren Ward (Springfield, PA/Cardinal O'Hara) and Jackie Geiger (Lansdale, PA/North Penn) closed out the first-half scoring to give the Marauders a 5-1 halftime advantage.

Fretz netted an unassisted marker at the 41:03 mark to start a three-goal flurry over a 2-minute, 40-second span to pull East Stroudsburg within 5-4.

Laura Chiodo (Downingtown, PA/Downingtown) snapped the spurt with an unassisted tally of her own at the 46:16 mark.

Ashley Mazzie (Barto, PA/Boyertown) needed just 43 seconds to stretch the lead back to three.

Diana Ferguson pulled the Warriors back with two before Richmond, Marmer and Joann Caminiti (North Wales, PA/North Penn) finished the scoring in the game's final 10:05.

The Marauders return to action at Gannon on Saturday. Game time is 10:00 a.m.
