No. 3 Le Moyne Finishes Strong to Down Adelphi in Semifinals

Le Moyne, which allowed at least 10 goals, but won for just the third time since the beginning of the 2007 season (3-7), responded with three goals over a span of one minute and 43 seconds. After a save by senior goalkeeper Jeff White (Buffalo, N.Y./Canisius HS), senior attackman Tyler Prevost (Watertown, N.Y./Immaculate Heart/Onondaga C.C.) got the Dolphins on the scoreboard with his 18th goal of the season off a pass from senior midfielder Doug Bailey (Syracuse, N.Y./Christian Brothers Academy) with 6:18 remaining. Just 70 seconds later, Prevost fed senior attackman Nate Frechette (Manlius, N.Y./Christian Brothers Academy) for his 28th goal of the campaign. Chadderdon then tied the score with his 25th tally of the year from the right edge of the crease with 4:35 left.

Adelphi regained the lead with 2:17 remaining as Robert Rossi found the back of the net. Off a restart behind the right side of the goal with just 1.2 seconds remaining, Joe Celano sent a shot into the net with just 0.4 seconds to go off a pass from Nick Watson.

The Dolphins ran off four straight goals in the second quarter to take a 7-5 lead. Junior faceoff specialist Kam Bumpus (Marshfield, Mass./Needham/Bridgton Academy) won the opening faceoff and raced in to score his 16th goal of the season just seven seconds into the quarter. Following an Adelphi slashing penalty, junior attackman Chris Button (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport) scored 18 seconds into the extra-man situation with a low shot from six yards after taking a pass from Prevost to tie the score at five with 11:37 remaining. Chadderdon gave the Dolphins their first lead of the game with an unassisted goal with 4:51 left in the half. Kelly tallied his first goal of the day with 3:07 to go off a pass from Prevost.

The Panthers completed the scoring in the half on an unassisted goal by Jamie McAndrew with 1:45 remaining in the stanza.

Following a save by White with 13:15 left in the third quarter, the Dolphins scored in transition as Frechette sent a pass to the right edge of the crease to Prevost, who sent an across the crease pass to Kelly, who tossed a shot into the back of the net with 13:04 left.

The Panthers responded off the ensuing faceoff as long-stick midfielder Kevin Kennedy scored from the right alley off a pass from Tuttle.

The Dolphins countered with back-to-back goals in a span of 2:10. In a man-down situation, Kelly picked up a loose ball on the left side of the goal and then fired in a shot from the left edge of the crease with 12:15 remaining. Chadderdon then sent a low shot into the left corner from the right edge of the crease to give the Dolphins a 10-7 lead with 10:05 left.

Adelphi answered back with consecutive goals in a span of 1:34 to cut its deficit to one. Tuttle registered both goals with the first coming at 8:47 and the second coming at 7:13 after picking up a loose ball.

Junior faceoff specialist Cameron Fedish (Binghamton, N.Y./Chenango Valley) won the ensuing faceoff and sent a pass up field to Frechette, who found Kelly on the crease for his fourth goal of the contest with 7:07 left. Chadderdon completed the quarter's scoring with 5:28 remaining by recording his fourth goal of the day off a feed from Frechette.

The Panthers started the scoring in the fourth quarter as Prendergast scored in an extra-man situation at the 13:34 mark, but Fedish won the ensuing faceoff and sent another pass to Frechette, who dished to Kelly again for his career high-tying fifth goal of the game.

Adelphi scored the next two goals, 4:47 apart, to close its deficit to one, 13-12. After picking up a ground ball, Tuttle sent a pass to Patrick Starke, who fired in his 12th goal of the season. After the Panthers failed to convert any of their next six shots (two White saves), Rossi scored his second goal of the day with 5:19 left after picking up a ground ball.
