3d Rising - Player Evaluations from 3d Lacrosse, 6/03

#2 Steen Svedtstedt, 2013
Mercer Island, Washington
Position: Midfield
Sub-Position: Alley Dodger
College Commitment:
Rating: Watch List

Steen is a classic big alley dodging midfielder. He runs hard at his man from up top and generates time and space to get his hands free to unload a powerful lefty shot on the run. Steen can also distribute the ball after drawing a slide but is undoubtedly more of a scorer than a feeder.

#9 Peter Mahoney, 2014
Mercer Island, Washington
Position: Midfield
Sub-Position: Wing Dodger/ Two-Way
College Commitment: Yale
Rating: Player

Peter is scrappy do-everything midfielder. He generates offense for others on the Islanders' second midfield, finishes his own drives, plays hard nosed defense, and creates possessions through great wing play on face offs. Peter has a quick change of direction and is an effective wing dodger off of a rollback from an alley dodge.

Torrey Pines

Torrey Pines came through Colorado in mid-April and brought the Southern California sunshine with themů.psyche! The Falcons played three bitterly cold games against three strong Colorado teams. TP returned home 2-1 after two close games with Kent and Cherry Creek and a surprisingly dominant performance against a quality Columbine team.

#6 Lucas Gradinger, 2013
Torrey Pines, California
Position: Attack/ Midfield
Sub-Position: X Attackman/ Wing Dodger
College Commitment: Maryland
Rating: Legit

Lucas is a fantastic lacrosse player. He has the speed and elusiveness to be an almost impossible cover, at least with just one player. Lucas is a goal scorer with the ability to beat goalies in a multitude of ways. Whether he is ripping time and room shots, slipping one by the goalie on a low angle no look shot, or shooting on the run from the wing Lucas is dangerous. Although he is highly skilled, the thing that separates Lucas is his slippery change of direction and game changing speed.

#28 Beau Botkiss, 2016
Torrey Pines, California
Position: Defense
Sub-Position: LSM/ With-Ball
College Commitment:
Rating: Legit

Beau has trouble seeing the field as a freshman on a talented, deep Torrey Pines defense. The fact that he sees it at all should tell you something about his ability. Beau is a fast, athletic long stick midfielder who makes intelligent plays when he is on the field, such as possession changing double teams on rides. He can also handle the ball and I would go so far as to describe his stick as "slick".

#16 Chris Carter, 2013
Torrey Pines, California
Position: Defense
Sub-Position: On-Ball Shutdown, With-Ball
College Commitment: Notre Dame
Rating: Legit

It must be disheartening for attackmen who line up across from Chris to know that their day will end with more bruises than points. For many attackmen by the end of a game the effort has become futile and they simply move the ball on, no longer willing to suffer the embarrassment of repeatedly losing the ball. Chris not only locks down the other team's best attackman, he patrols the middle of the field on rides reeking havoc and creating transition for his team. Chris is a big, athletic defenseman who moves his feet extremely well for a man of his stature. He has all the skill, size, and grit to make a difference on a stingy Irish defense for the next four years.

#1 Jake Kennedy, 2013
Torrey Pines, California
Position: Goalie
Sub-Position: Quick
College Commitment: Bucknell
Rating: Legit

Jake is a ball of fast twitch energy. His vigor and enthusiasm are apparent even from the sideline. Apart from being the emotional leader of his defense Jake is also an extremely skilled/polished goalie who is almost impossible to beat from the outside, especially if one is arrogant enough to challenge him high. Scoring from the inside is no easier; Jake is patient on fakes and then explosive to the ball. Clearing is another asset for Jake. He makes good decisions with the ball, and has the stick skills to deliver an accurate, timely pass.
