3d Rising - Player Evaluations from 3d Lacrosse, 6/03

#2 Bryce Cady, 2014
Torrey Pines, California
Position: Goalie
Sub-Position: Quick
College Commitment: Bryant
Rating: Player

Bryce is a quick goalie who sees the ball well and attacks it aggressively. Because of his aggressive style he is susceptible to high shots but gobbles up anything low. Bryce could make himself a better goalie by becoming a better clearer.

#11 Peter Hollen, 2014
Torrey Pines, California
Position: Defense
Sub-Position: LSM/ On-Ball Takeaway
College Commitment:
Rating: Watch List

Peter is a long, rangy Defenseman who plays aggressive one on one defense. He uses his height to his advantage and takes the ball away from dodgers with a strong over the head rip. Peter has adequate stick skill but is not assertive in creating transition offense for the Falcons.

#8 Bennett Shafer, 2013
Torrey Pines, California
Position: Midfield
Sub-Position: Alley Dodger/ Wing
College Commitment: Denison
Rating: Watch List

Bennett is a proficient dodger who can beat you from the wing or from up top with a hard alley dodge and a hard shot on the run. He is a big boy and uses that size to great effect. Bennett is a physical dodger!

#9 Corey Black, 2013
Torrey Pines, California
Position: Attack
Sub-Position: Wing Dodger
College Commitment: Monmouth
Rating: Watch List

Corey is a hard driving attackman who pushes for his topside move when dodging from the wing or X. He is an effective dodger who can split doubles, move the ball out of pressure, or just finish coming around the right corner. Corey moves intelligently off the ball and is the beneficiary of playing with #6.

Corona Del Mar

On a cold evening in mid-April Corona Del Mar traveled north to square off with San Ramon Valley. In an epic battle the Wolves ended CDM's thirty six game winning streak.
The Sea Kings are loaded with athletic talent and blessed with incredible overall team speed. CDM has a nice balance of senior and sophomore talent and the future looks sunny in Newport Beach.

#1 Hoyt Crance, 2015
Corona Del Mar, California
Position: Goalie
Sub-Position: Quick Reflex
College Commitment:
Rating: Legit

Hoyt is a category buster: he is both a big dude in the net and also a fantastic athlete with quick hands, feet, and reflexes. Against San Ramon Valley Hoyt was equally consistent and exhilarating; making the saves from deep that he should and a few on the crease that he shouldn't. Once he has made the save, Hoyt is a capable outlet passer and stick handler who can use his athleticism to clear the ball himself.

#2 Brett Nelson, 2013
Corona Del Mar, California
Position: Midfielder
Sub-Position: Two-Way/ Wing Dodger/ ReDodger
College Commitment:
Rating: Watch List

Brett is a big athletic midfielder. He dodges the alley hard to set up a roll back move for topside. Once into the middle of the field Brett is a skilled shooter who can get his shot off in a hurry thanks to a super quick release.

#3 Hugh Crance, 2015
Corona Del Mar, California
Position: Defense
Sub-Position: With-Ball
College Commitment:
Rating: Player

Hugh is competent defensively; that is, he moves his feet, stays topside, and throws strong checks. However, where Hugh really stands out is with the ball on the ground or in his stick. One play from the Sea Kings game against San Ramon Valley illustrates his skill set perfectly. The ball was on the ground and Hugh was in a battle with his attackman, Hugh hockey passed the ball into space, raced by his man, picked up the ball and started a transition opportunity with a sharp outlet.
