3d Rising - Player Evaluations from 3d Lacrosse, 6/03

#8 Sherwin Gersten, 2015
Corona Del Mar, California
Position: Midfield
Sub-Position: Two-Way
College Commitment:
Rating: Player

Sherwin is fast like he has a cheetah taped to his back. He also has a quick change of direction, this combination of speed and quickness make Sherwin a tough cover. He can shoot on the run, but Sherwin is a more effective shooter when he has time to set his feet.

#9 Jack Ortlieb, 2013
Corona Del Mar, California
Position: Attack
Sub-Position: X Attackman/ Wing Dodger
College Commitment: Holy Cross
Rating: Legit

Jack was clearly the focal point of the San Ramon Valley defense. He was shut off for much of the game, including man up. When he was able to get the ball the Wolves were coming early. Jack has a lightning quick change of direction and top end speed. He drives hard to the goal from X to create looks for himself but is also a proficient feeder who uses fakes to help free up shooters. Jack will also play up top where he looks to unload a giant time and room shot.

#15 Brett Greenlee, 2015
Corona Del Mar, California
Position: Defense
Sub-Position: On-Ball Take-Away/ LSM
College Commitment:
Rating: Legit

Brett may be young, but he is not afraid to use his prodigious athletic ability and speed to have a major impact on a game. On one play against San Ramon Valley Brett stripped a dodging midfielder and picked up the resulting groundball. After clearing the ball himself Brett dodged a sliding defenseman and buried one in the back of the net.

#20 Brian Leguay, 2015
Corona Del Mar, California
Position: Defense
Sub-Position: On-Ball Cover Guy
College Commitment:
Rating: Legit

Brian is a dangerous combination of athleticism and intelligence. He has quick feet but does not use that as an excuse to allow himself to get of position or take bad approach angles. Brian throws a violent slap check and then leaves it on the gloves and turns it into a lift (very effective).

Brophy Prep

Head Coach Beau Pich has been busy building a dynasty in the desert. His Broncos have won four of the last six state championships and have another strong team this year. The Broncos made the trip to San Francisco in early April to take part in the Jerry Langkammerer Invitational and received three stout tests for their efforts.

#6 Spencer Smith, 2013
Brophy Prep
Position: Attack
Sub-Position: X/ Wing
College Commitment: Mount St. Mary's
Rating: Watch list

Spencer is a productive attackman. He dodges hard from behind and gets the topside move for his strong lefty rip. Spencer can also unload with time and room and finishes well inside. He is an aggressive rider, plays smart angles and throws hard checks that lead to turnovers. Spencer sees the field well but is not an efficient feeder which leads to, too many forced feeds. Like so many young attackman he needs to learn that not producing a point for himself does not mean he lost the battle.

#15 Landon Gagner, 2013
Brophy Prep
Position: Attack
Sub-Position: Off-Ball/ Crease
College Commitment: Robert Morris
Rating: Watch List

Landon is a catch and finish attackman; he rarely touches the ball without shooting it very quickly there after. He moves intelligently off the ball, handles in traffic, and finishes well thru a check. One flaw in Landon's game is that he doesn't ever seem to want to quick stick when the play calls for one. As a result he shorts himself a goal or two a game and accrues countless more bruises. Fortunately for Landon he is a big, solid kid who can take the abuse.
