3d Rising - Player Evaluations from 3d Lacrosse, 6/03

#41 Joe Perrella, 2013
Redwood, California
Position: Midfield
Sub-Position: Alley Dodger
College-Commitment: Washington and Lee
Rating: Watch List

Joe is a big physical down hill dodger. He has a big time and room shot but has a tendency to take too many fifteen plus yard shots. Joe uses a wind up effectively to freeze defenders for a split dodge and shot on the run. This is when he is most dangerous. Joe is an aggressive defender who makes momentum changing plays but also takes too many penalties.

#26 Oliver Madison, 2014
Redwood, California
Position: Goalie
Sub-Position: Big in Net
College Commitment:
Rating: Watch List

Oliver is a big man in the goal and does a great job of maximizing his size by playing smart angles. Against St. Ignatius' hard alley dodging midfielders Oliver was patient letting the dodger run down his angle and then attacking the shot to the back pipe. After he makes a save Oliver throws a strong, accurate clear.

#1 Briton Barge, 2013
Redwood, California
Position: Midfield
Sub-Position: Two-Way
College Commitment:
Rating: Watch List

Briton is a workhorse midfielder. He plays hard nosed defense and was even given the pole when Redwood went two men down. Dodging the wing or from up top is where Briton can really show off his quickness and athleticism. He has a greasy change of direction and an explosive first step. Briton is a competent shooter but would be well served to find a bucket and a net before heading to his PG year.

#12 Liam Bourke, 2014
Redwood, California
Position: Defense
Sub-Position: On-Ball Cover Guy/ LSM/ With-Ball
College Commitment: Michigan
Rating: Player

Liam is comfortable playing defense anywhere on the field: up top, from X, or on the wing. He is an athletic defender with quick feet and fast change of direction. Because Liam's feet are so good he is able to be aggressive on the ball with out getting over extended. Liam has excellent ball skills; he is strong on ground balls and handles in transition.

#14 Peter Mascheroni, 2014
Redwood, California
Position: Defense
Sub-Position: LSM/ With-Ball
College Commitment:
Rating: Player

Peter definitely passes the eye test; he is a big athletic defender who can run. Peter's on ball defense is stout but he could make himself better by realizing sometimes less is more. Peter tends to be overeager to take the ball away and sometimes lets his man off the hook by overextending. In between the restraining lines is where Peter's athleticism and speed can really show themselves. He is aggressive in transition and is capable of scoring goals, which I saw him do off of a pass he intercepted.

#10 Jon Gibbs, 2014
Redwood, California
Position: Midfield
Sub-Position: Two-Way
College Commitment:
Rating: Watch List

Jon is a big athlete who plays great one on one defense. He has a big time and room shot and does most of his damage by moving off ball and finding space to unload off of a feed. If Jon can become a better downhill dodger from up top with the ability to create his own looks he could be dangerous.

#8 Max Friend, 2013
Redwood, California
Position: Midfield
Sub-Position: Face-Off/ Two-Way
College Commitment: Williams
Rating: Player

Max is a do everything midfielder who is personally responsible for many of Redwood's possessions; he faces off, clears the ball, plays stellar one on one defense, and is a groundball vacuum. Max has quick change of direction and regularly runs by his man up top to unload a hard accurate shot on the run.
