Drown Steps Down as Head Lacrosse Coach at Saint Anselm

MANCHESTER, N.H. Saint Anselm College Director of Athletics Dr. Kelly Higgins announced Monday that women's lacrosse head coach Holly Drown has resigned her post to pursue other avenues in her career, effective June 28.

"While we are extremely disappointed to see Holly leave Saint Anselm after all that she has accomplished to move the women's lacrosse program forward, we wish her nothing but the best as she delves into other life ventures," Higgins said. "Holly has left the program set up for immediate success and we look forward to the continued growth and success of Saint Anselm women's lacrosse."

In three years on the Hilltop, Drown compiled an overall record of 22-25 (.468), including 17-19 (.472). She improved upon her win total each season, culminating with a 10-7 2013 campaign that netted her Northeast-10 Coach of the Year honors. The 7-5 mark in conference play earned the Hawks their first berth into the Northeast-10 Championship since 2006, while the 10 wins are the most for Saint Anselm in the 14-year history of the program.

"This was an extremely difficult decision for me to make," Drown said. "Fitness, yoga and lacrosse have always been passions of mine and I feel like the time is right to branch out and explore other areas. I am deeply grateful for all of the experiences over the last four years and I'd like to thank the entire Saint Anselm athletic department and the administration for this incredible opportunity. I am confident that this program is headed for great success and that the next head coach will be inheriting a special group of student-athletes."

Drown guided the Hawks to an 8-8, 6-6 NE-10 record, as well as the program's first ever national ranking in 2012. The team narrowly missed a playoff berth, but finished the season ranked 13th in the country. Saint Anselm went 4-10 in Drown's inaugural season in 2011 after serving the previous year as an assistant coach on the 6-8 2010 squad.

A national search for Drown's replacement is underway.
