Coker College Officially Joins South Atlantic Conference

HARTSVILLE, S.C. The Coker College Cobras begin membership in the South Atlantic Conference today after spending 22 years in Conference Carolinas. Coker enters the SAC along with Queens University of Charlotte, which is also joining from Conference Carolinas.

"The transition into the SAC presents a great opportunity for our student-athletes, and we're excited to begin our membership today," vice president of athletics and facilities Lynn Griffin said. "Our coaches, student-athletes and staff are ready for the new conference competition this season. This is a great day to be a Cobra."

Seventeen of Coker's 19 sports will compete in the SAC: baseball, softball, men's basketball, women's basketball, men's cross country, women's cross country, men's golf, women's golf, men's lacrosse, women's lacrosse, men's soccer, women's soccer, men's tennis, women's tennis, men's track and field, women's track and field (beginning in 2014) and women's volleyball. Wrestling and men's volleyball are the only two that will not be members.
