Rabil, Durkin, Cooper Named Players of the Week

BOSTON, MA - Major League Lacrosse announced the award winners for Week 10 of the 2013 season, which concluded on July 7. The winners are chosen based on outstanding in-game achievements.

Boston's Paul Rabil obtained the Warrior Offensive Player of the Week, while Hamilton's Tucker Durkin collected the Warrior Defensive Player of the Week. Chesapeake Bayhawks' Kevin Cooper collected Cascade Rookie of the Week after his MLL debut.

Rabil recorded a season-high eight points to fuel the Boston Cannons past the Charlotte Hounds 17-16, in an overtime thriller on Saturday night. His season-high five goals, accompanied with three assists earned him Player of the Game accolades. Rabil's second goal of the night marked 283 career points, surpassing Conor Gill as Boston's all-time points leader. The midfielder ended the game with 289 career points. Rabil's last point of the night came on a perfect thread to Stephen Berger for the game winning goal. The feed marked 100 career assists for the sixth year veteran. The Cannons earned their fourth straight victory, bringing their record to 5-5, and now hold sole possession of fourth place in the standings.

Durkin and the Hamilton Nationals' defense held the Rochester Rattlers to six goals on Sunday afternoon, taking home a 10-6 decision. The goals-against output is the lowest for the defense this season. Durkin took opponent Ned Crotty completely out of play, containing the All-Star to a single shot on the afternoon, coming in the last minute of play. The rookie has quickly acclimated himself to professional play, continuously facing the top offensive players in the League. This is Durkin's second Player of the Week award, earning both after strong play against Rochester. Durkin and the Nationals will next host the Ohio Machine on Saturday, July 20, at 7:30 p.m. (ET).

Cooper registered four points in Chesapeake's 13-12 victory over the Ohio Machine on Saturday night. In his MLL debut, the rookie fired in three goals on three shots, while adding a helper. The 16th overall draft pick stems from the University of Maryland, and wasted no time inserting himself into a seasoned and talented Bayhawks midfield. Chesapeake improves to 6-4 with the win, and will next host the Boston Cannons on Thursday, July 18, at 7:30 p.m. (ET).
