Mercyhurst Brings in Three Transfers for the 2014 Season

ERIE, Pa. - Mercyhurst University has added Jenna Schlagenhauf, Taylor Ventre, and Mackenzie Jordan for the upcoming 2014 season. All three student-athletes are transfers from Saint Bonaventure University, an NCAA Division I institution, head coach Cecil C. Pilson announced today. The trio played for two seasons at Saint Bonaventure, and each has two years of eligibility remaining.

Schlagenhauf is an attacker from Clarence Center, N.Y. Schlagenhauf was an All-Western New York selection in 2010 and 2011. She was also a First Team All-Erie County Selection in 2010 after leading Section VI in scoring with 50 goals.

While at Saint Bonaventure, she led the Bonnies' offense her sophomore season with 37 goals, 16 assists, and 53 points. She played in 22 games over two seasons and started in 16 games. She was named Atlantic 10 Co-Player of the Week for her outstanding performance in the Bonnies' dramatic season-opening victory over Winthrop University. In addition, she was named to the Atlantic 10 Commissioner's Honor Roll in the Fall 2011.

Ventre is a midfielder from Baldwinsville, N.Y. Ventre missed her junior and senior years due to an injury. She played varsity her sophomore season and was named All-CNYCL and received New York State Scholar Athlete honors.

While at Saint Bonaventure, she played in 30 games over two seasons and started in 22. She was fourth on the team in offensive production during her sophomore campaign. She recorded a personal best three goals and one assist against Coastal Carolina University on February 27, 2013. She was named to the Atlantic 10 Commissioner's Honor Roll all four semesters while she was at Saint Bonaventure.

Jordan is an attacker/midfielder from Penfield, N.Y. She was team captain and received All-Greater Rochester Honorable Mention honors her senior year. She was selected for the US Lacrosse Greater Rochester Chapter 2011 Herb Fitch Lacrosse Senior All Star Game. She was also named First Team All-Monroe County during both her junior and senior years. Additionally so was named to the 2010 and 2011 US Lacrosse All-Academic Teams. Lastly, she was a four-time New York State Scholar Athlete and Monroe County Scholar Athlete selection. She still remains third all-time for ground balls at Penfield.

While at Saint Bonaventure, she played in 29 games over two seasons and started in 24. She was third on the team in offensive production during her freshman season and fifth on the team in her sophomore campaign. She recorded a personal-best four goals against La Salle University in the 2013 season finale. She was named to the Atlantic 10 Commissioner's Honor Roll in the Fall 2011 and the Spring of 2013.

"I am excited to welcome Jenna, Taylor, and Mackenzie to the Lakers lacrosse family," Pilson said. "All three of them will add a new dynamic to the Lakers lacrosse program the next two seasons. Their athleticism, skill, and maturity, will greatly help us continue to be successful on and off the field."

Coach Pilson's squad won 12 games in 2013, marking the sixth straight season with double-digit victories for the Lakers.
