O'Shea Tabbed as Assistant Lacrosse Coach at Maritime

THROGGS NECK, N.Y. The Maritime Athletic Department welcomed Pat O'Shea, who will serve as the new co-coordinator for intramurals as well as an assistant coach with the men's lacrosse team.

"Pat will be a valued addition to the men's lacrosse coaching staff and the intramurals program here at Maritime," commented head coach Daniel Lawrence. "His great track record both as a lacrosse player and a coach is evidence to that. I know he will work hard with Coach Hinch to get the intramural program moving in the right direction."

O'Shea comes to Maritime after spending the past two seasons at St. John the Baptist High School in West Islip, N.Y., as the head junior varsity coach in 2012 and as an assistant with the varsity squad in 2013, helping lead the Cougars to the Class "AA" Catholic Championship this past season.

"I am very excited and grateful to be named an intramurals co-coordinator and assistant coach of Maritime ," said O'Shea. "I would like to thank Coach Lawrence and Athletic Director Heather MacCulloch for this opportunity. I cannot wait to get started!"

O'Shea was a standout lacrosse player himself, playing all four years in high school at Half Hollows High School East on Long Island before moving on to play two seasons at Nassau Community College. At NCC, he helped lead the team to a regional championship and earn a berth to the JUCO National Championship Tournament.

He then spent his junior and senior seasons at Division I University of Detroit-Mercy, where he was named the first captain in program history. O'Shea served as captain both years that he played for the Titans and he is still listed in the Top 10 in the record books in numerous statistical categories. Most recently, he played professional box lacrosse in the NALL for the Rhode Island Kingfish for the winter 2013 season.

O'Shea is a 2011 graduate from Long Island University-C.W. Post with a bachelor's degree in Health and Physical Education. He is a resident of Dix Hills, N.Y., where he currently resides.
