Lynn Lacrosse Participates in AFSP Walk

Lake Worth, Fla.- They have only known each other for a little over a month now but the men's lacrosse team at Lynn University has already established its self as a staple in the Palm Beach County community after participating in the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention's Palm Beach County Out of the Darkness Community Walk on Saturday, October 5.

The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention is the leading national not for profit organization exclusively dedicated to understanding and preventing suicide through research, education and advocacy.

"It was great to have the team to come together on their day off to support those who have lost loved ones to suicide," said head coach Brian Kingsbury. "It was a great team bonding event."

The five mile walk, which took place at John Prince Park, saw over 300 participants. The event began with music, face-paint and a light breakfast before various AFSP members took the stage for readings and speeches including walk Chairperson Adriane Cantwell.

"Going to the walk was really eye opening to the team and I on suicide awareness," said Dante Egan, a freshman on the team. "It was also a great way for our team to get out in the community and be a part of something beyond Lynn University."

After the five miles, the team enjoyed lunch and refreshments with fellow walkers. Coach Kingsbury gathered everyone together where they took a minute to reflect and discuss their thoughts on the day's events.
