Vermont Unveils 13-Game Lacrosse Schedule for 2014

BURLINGTON, Vt. University of Vermont unveiled its 13-game schedule this afternoon. The Catamounts are set to host five games at Virtue Field, including conference match-ups against Binghamton and UMBC.

Vermont opens the season with a game against Colgate for the fourth consecutive year, as the Catamounts travel to Hamilton, N.Y. on February 15 to take on the Raiders. UVM returns to Burlington for its home opener against Providence on Feb. 22, and follow that up by hosting Dartmouth three days later on Feb. 25.

The Catamounts then head on their longest road swing of the season, a four-game trip beginning on March 1 against old conference rival Boston University. The swing wraps up on March 15 at Wagner, before Vermont travels back home to host Sacred Heart on March 22. UVM collected wins against both Wagner and Sacred Heart last season for two of its victories on the year.

America East play opens up for the Catamounts on March 29 when they make the trip to Albany to take on the Great Danes. Albany won the conference championship last season and finished ranked 12th in the Nike/Inside Lacrosse Media Poll.

Vermont hosts Binghamton on April 12 in its conference home opener, and then travels to Hartford the following weekend for a tilt with the Hawks on April 19. The Catamounts wrap up the regular season with a home game at Virtue Field on April 26 against UMBC.

The top four teams in the regular season will qualify for the America East tournament, which will take place at Stony Brook's LaValle Stadium on May 1 and 3.

The Catamounts bring back 54% of their scoring from a season ago. Senior Graham Horvath (34 pts.), junior Tim Yager (14) and sophomore Patrick Clark (14) are the top three returning scorers for UVM. Sophomore Justin Rosenberg returns in goal after earning an America East All-Rookie Team selection last season.

All UVM home games this season will be streamed live on CatamounTV.com for free.
