Wagner Welcomes 10 Lacrosse Newcomers for 2014 Season

Staten Island, NY - Wagner head coach Matt Poskay has announced the addition of 10 student-athletes to the Seahawk men's lacrosse program for the 2014 season. These newcomers, all members of the Class of 2017, will have four years of eligibility and represent a well-balanced addition to the Seahawk lineup. Four players join Wagner's midfield unit, while the team adds two more to its attack and defensive ranks, one long-stick midfielder, and one goalie.

The group hails from six different states as well as the Province of Canada, ranging from nearby New Jersey Tyler Cropley, Anthony Labetti and Ryan Zurawski, Long Island (Andrew Tirelli), Pennsylvania (Christian McCormick), and Massachusetts (Gus Colonna). The Seahawk coaching staff reached all the way to Minnesota (Jacob Orvidas) and Nevada (Noah Wolthausen), in addition to attracting a pair of Canadians (Evan Clark) and (Nesbitt Nicholas).

"I'm excited about this group of freshmen and for the Wagner family to welcome and get to know these fine young men over the next four years," Poskay said. "Our coaching staff has had the opportunity to observe, evaluate and coach these 10 newcomers during our fall season and each of them will have an opportunity to see playing time. We're a young team overall and these freshmen will have an impact.

"I really like what I've seen from this group," Poskay continued. "They're figuring it out, blending in well with our older guys, and getting a feel for it what it requires to be a student-athlete and compete at the Division I level."

With its new host of incoming talent added to its returning veteran ranks, the Seahawks head into the spring season with a healthy dose of optimism.
