Brigid Brady Hired as Saint Michael's Head Lacrosse Coach

COLCHESTER, Vt. - Saint Michael's College has hired Brigid Brady as its new women's lacrosse head coach, which Assistant Director of Athletics Meggan Dulude '07 announced on Tuesday. A former All-America player at the University of New Haven, Brady served the past three seasons as a graduate assistant with her alma mater. When she begins on Nov. 11, Brady will become the 10th head coach in the history of the program, which enters its 32nd season this coming spring.

"I would like to thank Director of Athletics Geri Knortz, Assistant Director of Athletics and Senior Woman Administrator Meggan Dulude, as well as the entire search committee for the opportunity to lead the Saint Michael's women's lacrosse program," said Brady, who will serve in a full-time capacity while also joining the department as the summer camp coordinator. "I am honored to be part of a program with such a long-standing academic and athletic tradition. I am excited to get to campus and start working with the team as we prepare for the 2014 season."

Brady aided a New Haven team that went a combined 35-20 overall the last three years, including 25-11 in the Northeast-10 Conference, while being nationally ranked for the entirety of the 2012 and 2013 seasons, landing as high as sixth in the Division II poll. In her graduate assistant position with New Haven, Brady performed such tasks as recruiting, scouting, player skill development, and organizing and planning practices.

"We are pleased to have Brigid join Saint Michael's as our new women's lacrosse head coach," said Dulude. "Her playing and collegiate coaching experiences within the Northeast-10 and abroad will be a valuable asset to our women's lacrosse program."

During the 2009-10 school year, Brady gained a tremendous amount of coaching experience in England, including working as a lacrosse development officer in Manchester through the English Lacrosse Association, the national governing body for the sport. She also served as the women's lacrosse head coach at the University of Manchester, recruiting and evaluating players while selecting a final roster, organizing practices, and coordinating travel plans. In July 2010, Brady was a project coordinator during the men's Federation of International Lacrosse World Championship in Manchester, handling logistics and training employees during the event.

Since 2008, Brady has volunteered as a coach with Bridgeport (Conn.) Youth Lacrosse, working with inner-city eight- to 14-year-olds as they learn the sport of lacrosse. For more than a year, Brady has coached eighth grade girls with the Nor'easter Lacrosse Club of Branford, Conn., joining the program in October 2012.

A decorated player during her undergraduate career, Brady graduated with New Haven's career records for points (245) and goals (220), as well as the Chargers' single-season mark for tallies. She served as a captain during 2008 and 2009, her final two seasons of college, while leading the Chargers to a combined 30-7 record and their first NCAA Tournament appearance, in 2009. Brady earned an Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) All-America laurel in 2008 in addition to drawing three all-region honors and four all-conference nods. She was also invited to compete in the IWLCA North-South Senior All-Star Game in 2009.

Brady was named NE-10 Academic All-Conference as a senior after landing on the East Coast Conference (ECC) Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll as a junior. After earning her bachelor's degree in political science in 2009, Brady completed her master of business administration with a concentration in sport management in 2013.
