Syracuse to Face Three Final Four Lacrosse Teams in 2014

SYRACUSE, N.Y. Syracuse will host three Final Four teams from last season, including defending national champion North Carolina, in 2014. Overall, the Orange will host 10 home games, six of which will be against teams that were ranked in the top 10 in last year's final coaches' poll. Overall, 12 of Syracuse's 17 regular-season contests are against teams that participated in the 2013 NCAA Tournament.

"We are the first team in recent years to play the other top five teams from the previous season at home," said Orange head coach Gary Gait.

Individual game tickets will be available for $5 this season. Fans can purchase a Lax Pack for $25, which includes 10 general admission tickets that can be used as a season pass or as a group ticket package. To purchase tickets, visit SUathletics.com or call the Carrier Dome Box Office at 1-888-DOMETIX.

Syracuse's home games against Canisius, Duke, North Carolina and Loyola will be doubleheaders with SU's men's team. Fans can use tickets from the Lax Pack to attend both games of the doubleheader.

The Orange opens the season with a pair of games in Florida. SU plays at Jacksonville on Jan. 21 and faces Stetson on January 24. After hosting Canisius in its home opener on Feb. 16, Syracuse plays its first-ever Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) contest against Virginia on Feb. 23. The Orange plays at Boston College on Feb. 26 and then starts a seven-game homestand on March 2 against Towson.

The March 10 game in the Carrier Dome is a rematch of last year's national semifinals between Syracuse and Maryland. SU takes on Florida on March 15. The Orange defeated the Gators in the NCAA quarterfinals last season in the Gators' only other trip to Syracuse.

After hosting Harvard (March 18), Syracuse takes on another 2013 national semifinalist when Northwestern returns to the Carrier Dome on March 23. Syracuse takes on Duke (Mar. 29) and Albany (April 1) before traveling to Blacksburg, Va. to face Virginia Tech on April 5.

Defending national champion North Carolina visits the Carrier Dome on April 12 before Syracuse goes on the road to face Cornell (April 15) and Notre Dame (April 19). The Orange closes out the regular season against Loyola on May 3 in the Carrier Dome.

Syracuse will compete in the ACC for the first time this season. The conference tournament takes place April 24-25 and 27 at Boston College. The addition of the Orange adds more depth to a strong conference that had five members advance to the NCAA Tournament last season.

"The ACC is the greatest league in both women's and men's lacrosse," Gait said. "It's the most dominant league as five of the eight finalists last year were ACC schools, including Syracuse."
