UC Davis Signs 10 to National Letters of Intent for 2014

DAVIS, Calif. -- Second-year UC Davis head lacrosse coach Kate Henwood announced the signing of 10 prospective student-athletes representing four different states to National Letters of Intent, setting a program record for the largest signing class. All prospects are high school seniors who are expected to enroll at the university in the fall of 2014.

Alphabetically, the class consists of Rachel Brennan of Vienna, Va., Kelsey DeJesus of San Diego, Calif., Erica Ely of Ridgefield, Conn., Hannah Friel of Orinda, Calif., Shannon Gear of San Ramon, Calif., Courtney Humphrey of Okemos, Mich., Alison Kimbro of Aliso Viejo, Calif., Erin Morrison of Danville, Calif., Asia Pitzer of Poway, Calif., and Carolina Tweedy of Westview, Calif.

"As a second year head coach, I could not be more proud of our incoming class of 2014," said Henwood. The unprecedented talent, academic achievements and character quality demonstrated by these 10 individuals throughout the recruiting process represents the promising future of UC Davis Lacrosse.

"This history-making class of NLI signees in addition to three recruited walk-ons will make an immediate and lasting impact on our program. Our coaching staff has worked tirelessly to ensure that this class will enable UC Davis to compete in the upper echelon of NCAA D-I lacrosse."

The 10-person batch of signees eclipses the previous high of nine, set by the 2008-09 and 2010-11 recruiting classes.
