California Signs 10 Student-Athletes for 2015 Lacrosse Season

Third-year head coach Ginger Miles recently announced the signing of 10 recruits to National Letters of Intent. Highlighted by three All-Americans and four Northern Californians, the future Golden Bears will join the program next fall.

"We are really excited to welcome this talented group to our Bear family," Miles said. "These student-athletes are not just incredibly talented lacrosse players, but also possess the academic background to fit seamlessly into our rigorous academic culture here at Cal. I'm thrilled this class has strong representation of local talent that is well complimented by players from a diverse variety of backgrounds. They will have big shoes to fill, replacing our current seniors, but bring great passion for the game and the ability to make a significant impact from day one."

Four of the recruits Chloe Landry, Kate Mattimore, Alexandra Robertson and Hannah Stapp are from Northern California with Landry coming from Lafayette, Mattimore from Tiburon, Robertson from Belvedere and Stapp from Pleasanton. Landry played for Acalanes High School, which went undefeated for three years from 2011-13, including winning NCS Division II championships in 2011 and 2013. Landry was the DFAL league MVP in 2013, and her team's MVP in 2012 and 2013. Mattimore was an academic All-American last season, as well as her team leader in points in 2012 at St. Ignatius High School. Robertson, who is teammates with Mattimore at St. Ignatius, was her team's leading scorer as a freshman and a junior. Stapp and her Amador Valley High School team were NCS finalists in 2012 and 2013, as well as going undefeated in the EBAL league last season.

Miles also brought in two future Bears from the San Diego area Camille Doan (San Diego) and Bridgett Grubb (Carlsbad). Doan was named the team MVP at Torrey Pines High School in 2013, as well as being her squad's leading scorer the year before. She was named First Team All-CIF in 2012, as well. Grubb was an All-American in 2013, as well as an academic All-American and First Team All-CIF in 2012 and 2013. She was a two-time winner of the Most Inspirational Award at La Costa Canyon High School.

Finally, Miles added four East Coasters to the mix Chloe Carnes (Richmond, Va.), Parker Garrett (Chevy Chase, Md.), Meredith Haggerty (Bel Air, Md.) and Melissa Rubin (Long Beach, N.Y.). Carnes was an honorable-mention All-American in 2013 and voted Second Team All-State at Collegiate High School. Garrett was named an Under Armour All-American in 2013 in addition to garnering ISL All-League honors in 2012 and 2013. She was named the team MVP in 2013 as the leading scorer at National Cathedral School. Her squad won the ISL A Championship last season after being finalists the previous two years. Haggerty was named an Under Armour All-American twice in 2012 and 2013. Her high school squad reached the league semifinals in 2011 and the quarterfinals the following two years. Rubin notched all-conference honors three years in a row from 2011-13, and her Long Beach High School team won the conference title in 2011.
