Johns Hopkins Lacrosse Schedule Features Six Top-20 Teams

BALTIMORE, MD Johns Hopkins lacrosse head coach Janine Tucker announced today the Blue Jays' 2014 schedule, which features 10 homes games as well as a pair of nationally televised games. The Blue Jays will once again face a tough slate this spring, as six of their opponents made the 2013 NCAA Tournament and are ranked in the top 20 in the Inside Lacrosse preseason poll.

Hopkins opens the season with five of its first six games and seven of its first nine at historic Homewood Field. JHU opens the season against Marquette on February 15 in the Golden Eagles' second season of Division I play. Opening draw of the Blue Jays' 39th season is slated for 12:00 pm at Homewood Field. Hopkins then hits the road for the only time in the month of February as the Blue Jays visit the Mount St. Mary's Mountaineers on February 19.

Hopkins kicks off a four-game home stand against Bucknell on February 22 and will then face Loyola on February 26 on ESPNU. The game versus the Greyhounds will be the Blue Jays' "Coaches versus Cancer" game. JHU opens March with a non-conference game versus American on March 1 before traveling up Charles Street to meet rival Towson on March 5. The Blue Jays return to the road on March 8 as the Blue Jays travel to our nation's capital to take on the Colonials of George Washington. JHU returns to Homewood Field to face Boston University on March 12 in the first meeting between the two in a decade.

Hopkins opens its final season of play in the American Lacrosse Conference (ALC) with newcomer Michigan on March 16. JHU then embarks on its longest road swing of the season with trips to Georgetown (March 21) and Vanderbilt (March 29). The Blue Jays return from Nashville to host the Florida Gators on April 5 before beginning a tough stretch of three games in five days. Hopkins travels to the Midwest to face Northwestern on April 13; three days later the Blue Jays are back at Homewood to play the UMBC Retrievers and then they head north to State College to take on the Nittany Lions of Penn State just two days afterward.

Hopkins closes out non-conference play on April 23 at Old Dominion and then returns home to end the regular season versus Ohio State on April 26 in an ESPNU game. The Blue Jays then return to Evanston, IL for the eighth ALC Tournament, hosted by Northwestern, May 1, 2 and 4.
