Virginia Lacrosse Player Pleads Guilty to Assault, Obstruction

Carl Walrath, a University of Virginia junior midfielder, was sentenced to a short stay in jail after pleading guilty to charges of assault and obstruction of justice on Friday in Charlottesville General District Court.

Walrath, 21, was charged because of a November 24 incident in which he allegedly struck a police officer who was attmepting to break up a fight that involved 8-10 people and then ran from the scene.

Walrath (Glen Mills, Pa./Haverford School) was named to the All-ACC Academic Team in 2013 and played in nine of UVa's 15 games last spring.
